Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is intended to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one e-mail, but to seem as being sent from a different, typically with the idea to scam the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, a unique record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers around the world receive it. The record includes all e-mail servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an address within the domain. When a message is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the target destination. In case, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the given domain, the message won't be forwarded and it will be discarded. When you use this service, it will prevent third parties from sending spam e-mails that look as if they have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

If you host your domain names in a shared web hosting account on our end and we manage the email addresses for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in a section of its own where you are able to see which domains are currently protected. For the ones which aren't, you will be able to activate the SPF protection option and manage numerous things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your mailboxes, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to set a rule that email messages can be sent only if your domains include our MX records. The last mentioned solution is the most secure one, but it can be used when we manage the email addresses for your domain names and you are not using some other e-mail supplier. The new records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an email using your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function is provided with all the Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to activate this service effortlessly for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a very user-friendly interface, so you do not have to be tech-savvy to secure your e-mails. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you've chosen. As an extra option, we also give you the ability to restrict your outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes even further by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain involved has our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain need to be managed on our end and not by another supplier. In this way you will have even better control and there will not be a chance for any person to counterfeit your email addresses for harmful intentions.
